In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation. 2 Corinthians 2:14-16
In the past few weeks I have found myself anxious and distracted and not getting much done, as though I was waiting on the Lord for something. Even my online ministry seemed like it held little meaning, even though I have just crossed over 40K followers and have Bible study, prayer, and praise leaders working around the clock 7 days a week encouraging people’s hearts.
So I prayed to the Lord to show me with lazar sharp vision what He wanted me to be doing. That was a Sunday. That Monday I introduced a new leader to let people meet her on Twitter. She has a heart for suicide victims and families. She no sooner tweeted what she was going to focus on than a dear friend, and wife of another leader, popped up to thank us profusely because her step mom had just attempted suicide and was in the hospital with her life in the balance.
Suddenly all fooling around stopped and we all knew we were called to hold forth in prayer, ”for just such a time as this!” The importance of a chat team being there for support of this family couldn’t have been more clear at that moment.
On Tuesday an old friend came back to Twitter and looked me up. He was so happy to find me and tell me of his new-found faith and that the Lord saved his marriage. I had prayed for that on Twitter several years earlier. Now here he was and wanted to bring his wife to chat too. It was an exciting moment, because we seldom get to see what happens after we minister and pray. It was such a blessing to chat with this transformed believer!
The next day, Wednesday, I interviewed a woman author I had just met. During the interview, I found she had lost her 37 year-old hubby just 4 years ago. As her story unfolded, it was clear that she had taken every ounce of grief and turned it into love and inspiration to give away to others. What a thrill it was to meet her and introduce her to my ministry network. I was overwhelmed with the beauty of her ministry, that was so much like my own.
Again a hushed awe came over the chat as people focused on the awesome beauty and power God had brought to life out of her ashes.
On Thursday, I got ready to go to a church dinner, which I almost didn’t attend, because I felt no one would miss me. Just before my hubby, Jeff, and I left, I participated in our weekly TweetingGodsLove.com Praise hour. My friend and his wife, now a strong Christian couple, showed up to praise the Lord together. 1 by one they thanked me for my prayers for them. Tears welled up in my eyes to realized how profoundly transformed their marriage was by their devotion to the Lord.
So off to the church dinner we went. We sat in a room of 150 people talking about the amazing things this week had revealed. After dinner the host, pastor of small groups in our church rose and began to speak of someone who had started the most amazing group in our church and was being honored. I listened and to my shock I realized half way through he was talking about ME! He called me up and gave me a trophy for “Group Leader of the Year, for my twitter ministry!!!
I had no idea he even knew much about it, but he had all the facts. I was honored, shocked, and humbled. In disbelief I thought,”My ministry doesn’t even benefit my church in anyway.” Then I remembered, we all exist to benefit Jesus Christ…no matter where we do it. I am so blessed with a pastor who feels that in his spirit too!
Suddenly my mind went back to the prayer I had prayed at the beginning of the week asking for lazar sharp vision. I realized that the Lord had been leading a parade of blessings related directly to my ministry past my reviewing stand all week…Everyday!! Then He moved one of His ministers to validate it with a trophy of all things!! What more vision could I want, to know that what I was doing was pleasing to God?
Sometimes we allow insecurities and unrelated problems to seep into our psyche and start thinking of our contribution as small and meaningless. It can become discouraging. But we must remember that little is always much in the hands of the Lord. If we but dedicate what we do to His glory. He will use it, grow it, and impact the multitudes with what little we have to offer.
Remember when the disciples had only 5 loaves and 3 fish? They told Jesus there wasn’t enough to feed the 5000. But Jesus blessed it and everyone ate and then gathered leftovers! We always have enough to make a big difference for the glory of God when we invite Jesus into it. He gave me clear vision of the path ahead. He will for you too. I pray you are overwhelmed with His pleasure! Just do it! He will lead your victory parade too!
